呼吁书

当北京奥运的圣火在奥林匹斯山上点燃的那一刻起，就预示着它承载了无尽的祝福、期待以及四海同心般的欢乐！但，我们知道，它也必将会经历许多扰人的风雨、非难以及人性中最阴暗的诅咒……

美国有线电视新闻网(CNN)在转播北京奥运火炬在旧金山传递时，主持人卡弗蒂先生发表攻击中国人的言论，妄称“50年来中国人基本上一直是一帮暴徒与蠢人”……针对这一具有强烈种族歧视色彩的攻击，身为美国华人，

我们想说，150多年前，在美国西部几近蛮荒的时代，无数的华人在烈焰之下修建了横跨美洲的西部大铁路……二十年后的1869年，这段铁路在犹他州的普洛门特利(Promontory，Utah)同联合太平洋铁路终于接轨时，道路两旁矗立叹望的工人几乎都是华人，而在他们身后又有多少人把生命倾洒在这片土地上……曾经有一位美国白人历史学家说过：“如果没有华人贴在几乎垂直的悬崖上用他们的血汗努力工作，如果没有华人闯过了其它族裔难以忍受的难关，这段跨越历史的铁路决不会建成”…… 因此，我们要说，他们不是暴徒与蠢人，他们是勤劳的美国华人！

我们想说，60多年前，第二次世界大战时，许许多多美国华裔子弟就投入到那场如火如荼的神圣战争中，他们舍生忘死，浴血奋战，为这个国家的尊严作出了巨大的牺牲！一位美国国会议员曾经这样说：“如果不是这场战争，美国可能永远都不会知道在美华人有多么热爱这片土地！”在1942年，就是在旧金山，这个奥运火炬面临重重困扰的地方，当时旧金山的华人紧衣缩食为红十字会募集善款、购买战争公债！与这个国家甘苦与共、不离不弃……因此，我们要说，他们不是暴徒与蠢人，他们是无畏的美国华人！

我们想说，在现实社会中，在许多领域里、无数的美国华人精英！为美国的进步与发展作出了无比突出的贡献！杨振宁、李政道、丁肇中、王赣骏、贝聿铭、丁绍光、马友友、骆家辉、赵小兰、关颖珊……因此，我们要说，他们不是暴徒与蠢人，他们是优秀的美国华人！

我们还想说，四十五年前美国黑人民权先驱马丁.路德金先生就有“一个梦想”……

梦想有一天，这个国家将会真正实现它的立国信条的真谛：“人人生而平等！”，不再有歧视、傲慢与种族的界限！

梦想有一天，一个非正义和偏见的热浪逼人的荒漠之地，也会改造成为真正自由和公正的青青绿洲，不再有谎言、误解与恶意的诽谤！

梦想有一天，我们将生活在一个不是以种族的肤色，而是以品格与才能的优劣作为评判标准的国度里，各族裔守望相助，如同弟兄姊妹。

遗憾的是，四十五年过去了，马丁.路德金先生的梦想彷佛并没有真正的实现！百年奥运的圣火在如同卡弗蒂先生这样人的眼中，带来的不是包容与理解的温馨祝福！不是奥林匹克和谐、团结的崇高理念！而是嫉妒、歧视、误解、谎言、偏见与诽谤！这些衮衮诸公期盼的不是北京奥运华典的徐徐拉开，而是潘多拉盒子打开后幽灵般的如影随形！

所以，今天我们不但想说，我们更要行动起来……2008年4月19日，拿出您的勇气，来一起捍卫我们应有的尊严与权益！身为美西南的华人华侨，让我们走上街头，到CNN去，发出我们共同的声音！抗议CNN对中国的负面报导，抗议卡佛蒂的辱华言论，我们一致要求CNN及卡佛蒂本人必须立即向全世界华人进行公开的、正式的、且具有诚意的道歉，消除此一恶劣影响，如果CNN不作出此一道歉，我们将呼吁：

l        将联合世界各地华人要求中国政府取消CNN北京奥运的报道权；

l        将采取法律行动，追究CNN的诽谤侮辱责任和相关赔偿；

l        将动员华人的力量，对CNN采取抵制、不合作等相应措施。

四十五年前，马丁.路德金曾经说过：“现在正是时候！现在不是缓和情绪或服用渐进主义镇静剂的时刻。现在是从黑暗与荒凉的歧视幽谷中崛起走向充满阳光的、平等的大道上的时候了……”

是的！现在正是时候！

Public Transportation near the protest

The assembly point at Hollywood and Vine is easily accessible by public transportation. You can get there by both Metro and bus. 

Hollywood and Vine has its own Metro stop. It is on the Red Line. Union Station is also on the Red Line. Click here for a map of Metro rail stops in LA.

The march assembly site is Hollywood and Vine. Buses and vans can drop passengers off within a block from this location on Hollywood Blvd. Buses cannot park here, but they can pull up and unload along Hollywood by Argyle (1 block east of Vine). How to Get Back to Your Car

Sunset and Cahuenga is only four blocks away from Hollywood and Vine (although the march will be longer than that). To return to your car from Sunset and Cahuenga, you can walk east on Sunset two blocks to Vine and then take a left on Vine. From there, Hollywood is two blocks away.
